Agriculture & Fishing

Agriculture is the foundation of every economy in Latin America, serving as a primary export for most Latin American economies and employing a key portion of the workforce within each country.

Primary agricultural exports from Latin America include grain and meat, coffee, bananas, sugarcane, tobacco, and cooking oils.

Agriculture in the region has experienced additional growth as a result of fuel alternatives, specifically the production of ethanol and bio-diesel fuels. With Brazil in the lead, Latin America supplies 10% of the ethanol consumed in the United States and the Americas combine for 80% of bio-fuel production globally.

Fishing is another staple of the Latin American economy. The coastal waters provide for large catches of many different species that are in high global demand. A significant portion of Latin America's collective Gross Domestic Product comes from the fishing industry.

RSM in Latin America is committed to provide a range of talented professionals to help your firm in the agriculture and fishing industries.
